Marcis Kalnins

Blues musician, educator, studio producer and sound engineer. Bass playa at Latvian Blues Band.

From Cover Musician to Blues Enthusiast:

“I’m Marcis Kalnins, and the blues changed the course of my life. Instead of becoming a cover musician for various events and TV shows, I chose to pursue a career as a professional blues musician with the Latvian Blues Band. This decision has led me on a remarkable journey.”

Blues Across Continents:

“Blues has taken me to distant corners of the world, from Europe to America, Asia, and Africa. It’s given me unforgettable experiences and opportunities beyond comparison. I’ve had the privilege of performing after Status Quo at the Sierre Blues Festival in 2011 and competing with talented musicians at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2010.”

A Tribute to Chicago Blues:

“All of this became possible thanks to the Latvian Blues Band and fellow blues musicians from the undeniable capital of blues – Chicago. We’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with legends like Carey BellDuke RobillardBob MargolinWillie ‘Big Eyes’ SmithJerry Portnoy, and many others. It’s worth noting that the last three legends mentioned were part of Muddy Waters’ band, and Jerry Portnoy later became known for touring and recording with Eric Clapton.”
